Dad's (AKA-the Utah socialite King) upcoming social calendar
Request. Request. Invitation. Invitation. Such is the life of one, Fatha Brady, Utah's newest socialite. Although it's difficult for me to commit to a specific social plan simply because the invites keep rolling in and you all know how we 'Yellows' are. We live by the "better offer" theory. So, here's the most up-to-date info I have.
First--this weekend. I am flying to SLC on Friday, Feb. 10th arriving about 10AM. I will be speaking at a luncheon for doctors at the Hilton at noon. (So far we have no one committed to come, but we all have faith in Delores and Steph and Afton.) We anticipate between 3-8 doctors. Steph and Afton, we need one or both of you to help with the booth on Thursday and Friday--especially around lunch time. Friday will be busier than Thursday. Sharp business attire is best. Joseph is going to help film my seminar on Friday. Pay for all of you is $4000 each (which you have already received in the form of cash deposited into your accounts).
I will then fly to Albuquerque at approximately 4 PM that same day to join Mom, Mark and Brett (who's flying in from AZ to watch the tournament and go to DECA and see his Dad whom he really misses) for Mark's soccer tournament on Saturday, the 11th. Go Mark! No, Ben can't come. Mom is going to drop John, Matt and Annalise off in Manassa at grandma's house on the way to Albuquerque for the night--Friday, the 10th. After Mark's last game on Saturday, the 11th, we will return to Colorado Springs. Sunday, the 12th, we will ordain John a deacon. He's very excited. Brett will return to AZ on Wednesday, the 15th after DECA and family bonding.
Second. President's day weekend. The entire Colorado based family will drive to Utah on Friday, the 17th, in time to arrive at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building (next to temple square) at 4 PM for our 5 PM performance there. The performance will be about 40 minutes long. Afterward, we will all go to dinner for the first time to celebrate Steph's, Mark's, and John's birthdays. No, Ben can't come! With all the soccer camps, etc. this week, we haven't been able to go to dinner as a family here in Colorado, plus Mark and John wanted to have everyone there. Steph has voted for the restaurant that has the walnut pear salad.
Saturday, the 18th, breakfast and morning snack will be on your own but, we will get together for lunch. We have two choices. Brick Oven or Melinda and Joseph's. Melinda has a great meal without onions or peppers that she wants to prepare for us. Sounds good! This will be the second meal to celebrate the triple birthdays. At 2 PM, Young Ambassadors Performance. No, Ben can't come. Rumor has it that Randy Booth is going to send one former YA an invitation to be a guest performer to sing Billy Joel's, "I Love You Just The Way You Are." So far, no word. Maybe they're going to surprise me at the performance so it looks unrehearsed. I'll be ready either way. My costume is already done. I'm going to wear the same "Nephi costume" I wore in the "3 Degrees of Glory" play we did at Aaron's camp in '04. Mom was able to get the mud out of the brilliantly white fabric. I may have to wear a disguise (the pregnant nun costume always works) in order to get in the auditorium without being mobbed.
After the YA's performance, I will have to stay for signing autographs and the BYU catered "after party". No, Ben can't come. Food will include BYU's signature dishes--all the mint brownies you can eat along with chicken de hotel (raised by the sisters in the BYU 4,623rd ward), mashed fake potatoes (fresh from the Church's own Home Storage Center) and gravy, green beans (picked that day from the BYU Welfare Farm) and LaVell Edwards vanilla ice cream topped with a dollup of real whipped cream made from happy cows at BYU's own creamery. Yum! All the "Who's Who at BYU" will be there. Me, Steve Young, Me, LaVell, Danny Ainge, Me, Dale Murphy, etc., etc. We should finish in time to catch a late supper. No, Ben can't come! Again, two choices. Either Melinda and Joseph's (if we didn't eat there at lunch) or some other restaurant (John wants Fuddruckers--be careful how you say that, Brett) to celebrate the triple birthday again, for the third time.
Sunday. Feb. 19th. Church in the AM. Dad will go to south Weber and then on to Brigham City for two Cadet Choir performances. The first one starting at 2:50 PM and the second starting at 7 PM. A Congressman is speaking at the second performance. We should be back in Provo at about 10 PM. Anyone who wants to go with me is very welcome--except Ben. You will have to be willing to put up with the paparazzi that always accompanies me. The rest can chill at Grandma's.
Monday, the 20th. The new, smaller, sleaker and quieter Colorado Springs based family will drive back to CS signalling the end of the weekend party. There will be the usual misting in Father's eyes as he leaves his children and curses about this so-called "Plan of Happiness". (How can a plan be happy if children can't be with their father 24/7? Don't answer that!)
The following Friday, the 24th, Brett will be moving from AZ to Provo. He will be resting (mostly) from his intense workouts there and to prepare for tryouts beginning Tuesday, the 28th. Go Brett! Good news. The BYU Men's Soccer Coach called Brett and talked to him without hanging up or telling him not to show up. Yea!
So, there you have it. Steph and Afton. There will be no time for boys while we're there. None. I don't want either of you leaving for any non-family event. Cancel the snowmobile trip. If we're going to drive 20 hours, spend a fortune on gas for the Suburban, miss one day of school and leave Ben, we don't want you to have "other plans." However, as a consolation prize, I can probably arrange for your FHE brother and Scott to have a personal, autographed picture of me in my "Nephi" costume after the YA's performance on Saturday, PROVIDED they both bring a notarized health certificate verifying that they have no potential for emergencies nor contagious diseases. In my past performances, many (mostly females) have fainted from excitement. With my strong, chiselled jawline, the power is overwhelming. Now that I have two jawlines, it will be double the power. Totally unfair to any faint-hearted YA fan. Anyone with a history of heart problems is strongly encouraged to use extreme caution and should only attend if authorized by their physician and they are properly medicated.
Oh yea. I forgot to say that the Cadet Choir will probably be warming up in Scott's dad's chapel (OK, it's Presidnet Hinkley's too) in preparation for the Joseph Smith Memorial performance. Scott and his parents are invited to come provided they are willing to wait their turn for photos and autographs.
Oh, the life of a 'Yellow'. Party. Party. Party. But, what's a Dad to do? Ta, Ta!
Love,
Dad
No!! I said, Ben can't come! And you can't bring your paintball gun!

Hey, can Ben come!?!?
You are out of control!!!!!!!
DAD- YOU ARE NUTS! DDDAAAADDD- all we have planned is eating! I can go snowmobiling! Besides by the end of Feb the majority of the Brady clan will be in Utah- so snowmobiling is a fantastic idea.
Gosh dangit- we are having my b-day party on Sat. then. I was told that we had to do it on Friday. Im a busy girl. Got lots to do.
Notice the time that Dad posted this Blogg!! When does the man sleep? Not at night like the rest of us. (don't vampires do that - up at night)? Second I propose that we put a limit on the length of the bloggs!! Dad is never at a loss of words when it comes to writing.
Mom
I vote that Brett get his little butt (well maybe a bit bigger butt now) up here so that we can all be together. The YA tickets have been bought-sorry seekie I didn't know you had such stong feelings about the idea. We could try and sell it back. We are totally excited for you to come and especially excited that you are going to give Afton a lecture about being reliable and on top of things!
